It takes some effort but The Way of Water totally grows on you. Its not as easy to connect with the story and the characters like Avatar. But thats not a bad thing. I love how dark and gritty Jake and Neytiri become. I love how Quaritch seems to be getting more human as an Navi than he ever was before. I love the underwater imagery and effects. Ive grown to care more and more about the kids... even Spider. The deleted scene, Parents From H**l really helped. I feel worse for Neteyam and the Sully family when their eldest son gets killed.

The first time was hard to connect with. But The Way of Water has totally grown on me the more times i see it. It has a very distinct voice, a very distinct pace, and a very distinct narrative. Cameron doesnt make it easy to connect with the story and characters like he did in the first film. But thats definitely not a bad thing.
